Being bed-bound is The Sex Factor Episode 8 Playing With The Prosgarbage at the best of times, but spending the holiday season in hospital is even worse.

Photographer Karen Alsop was working with an initiative called The heART Project when she saw first hand, just how difficult the holidays can be when you're a child in hospital.

So she set about to bring some joy to the lives of kids and their families affected by illnesses at Christmas time.

Alsop told families of children in Monash Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, that she intended to come and visit closer to Christmas and arrange for some happy snaps with kids and Santa Claus.

What she didn'tmention was the other half of her plan.

Spending months devising creative concepts and planning, Alsop decided to take the photographs of children and their families with St. Nick and edit them on Photoshop, transporting them to a wintery wonderland, far away from the troubles of hospital life.

Alsop told Mashablevia email that the shoot day, which lasted from 8 a.m. until late into the evening, was as rewarding as it was full.

Alsop said the project's highlight was unquestionably the joy and gratitude on the parents and children's faces -- perking up as they saw their surprise gift for the very first time.
